Miramar is our home city: _luma is run out of Miramar, so this is the market we know best. It is also an unusual one for dentists. With roughly 135,000 residents and only about 60 dentists practicing inside city limits, Miramar has far fewer dentists per person than neighboring Pembroke Pines or Weston.
In practice, that means many Miramar families drive to a neighboring city for dental care, and many of them start that search on their phone with "dentist near me". A practice in Miramar that shows up clearly for those searches, with its location, the insurance it takes and an easy way to book, is competing with a small number of local offices instead of the whole county.
Miramar is also one of the most diverse cities in South Florida, with about 41% of residents identifying as Hispanic or Latino in the 2020 census. A website that handles English and Spanish well, and states plainly which languages the staff speaks, removes one more reason for a new patient to keep scrolling.
What a dental practice website needs
- A page for each treatment you want more of, written the way patients search: "dental implants", "emergency dentist", "Invisalign", not just "restorative services".
- One obvious way to book: online scheduling, a click-to-call button on mobile, or both, visible without scrolling.
- Insurance and payment answers: which plans you accept, whether you take patients without insurance, financing options. These are among the first things new patients look for.
- Your dentists, by name, with their licenses and training. It builds trust and it is part of Florida's advertising rules (see below).
- Fast loading on phones. Most patients find a dentist on their phone, often in a hurry because something hurts.
- A Spanish version when your patients need it, written properly rather than machine-translated.
- Forms that do not collect health information they do not need. A booking request needs a name, a phone number and a preferred time, not a medical history.
Florida dental advertising rules your website has to follow
A dental website is advertising under Florida law, so the Board of Dentistry's rules apply to it just like they apply to a billboard. These are the ones that most often trip up dental websites:
- Identify the licensed dentist. Rule 64B5-4.002 requires all advertising to identify the Florida-licensed dentist who takes responsibility for it, by license number, or by the commonly used name plus the address and phone number on file with the Department of Health.
- No fraudulent, laudatory or comparative claims. The same rule bars misleading advertising, statements praising the dentist, and claims comparing the quality of your services with other dentists'. "The best dentist in town" is a problem.
- "Sleep dentistry" needs a permit. The term can only be used by a licensee who holds a valid general anesthesia permit.
- Specialist claims are restricted. Only dentists who qualify in a specialty recognized by the American Dental Association can hold themselves out as specialists, and credentials from other certifying bodies must carry the disclaimer required by section 466.0282 of the Florida Statutes.
- Free or discounted offers need the 72-hour statement. Under section 456.062, any ad for a free, discounted or reduced-fee service, exam or treatment must include, in capital letters, the statement that the patient may refuse to pay for other services performed within 72 hours of responding to the ad.
